Grant High school will soon see major improvements to its buildings and structure. The three-hundred building is the newest addition to the school, but definitely not the last with more construction in progress. With high expectations, everyone at Grant should know what to expect with future renovations.

To learn more about the three-hundred building, I asked Principal McMurrin what she thinks the most notable features of the three-hundred building are. She expressed her excitement for the new science labs and facilities that are modernized for hands-on learning. On top of that, she mentioned an intriguing feature of the ceramics classrooms, where rooms have extensions to the natural outdoors work environment. However, she highlighted that her favorite feature is the entrance at the front of the building. The wall covered with windows provides beautiful natural light inside the rooms and as well as adding an eye-catching, yet original feature to the building.

Starting off with asking about the notable features in the three-hundred building, I then moved onto the crucial question people want to know: What are the ongoing construction projects for, and when are they going to be finished? She answered with a phase system which looks like this.

Phase two (the current phase): A new four-hundred building! This building has a college and career center, a beautiful library with collaboration rooms, new graphic design classrooms, film classrooms, flexible engineering labs, and a performing arts space. Not to mention, brand new lockers for the building are also in place.

Phase three: Remodeling of the two-hundred building, which is currently empty, is expected throughout the year. The one-hundred building will also be remodeled, as well as construction on the garden area, creating a new and improved school.

The North section of the four-hundred building will partly open in November, while the rest of the building will completely open at the start of quarter three, during January, and the two-hundred and one-hundred buildings will be remodeled throughout the year.

By the end of 2024, our whole school will be remodeled, and students and staff can enjoy the new and modern Grant High School!
